Youth Mini-Mission Events

Youth Mini-Mission Events

Youth Mini-Mission Events are for our young people ages 9-18 and their friends and families. We often hold the events on Saturday or Sunday late afternoon or evening.

The Catechism found in our Book of Common Prayer states the mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. It further states the Church pursues its mission as it prays, worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace, and love. This is the reason we have our Youth Mini-Mission Events (YMMEs). We as members of the Body of Christ live into our mission of promoting justice, peace, and love in our broken work, and as a result deepen our relationships with each other, with God, and with God’s creation, our earth.

We invite all our young people (ages 9-18), their friends, their parents and other adults from the parish to come and be Christ’s hands and feet in our world. Our past events have included a focus on feeding the hungry, addressing the needs of displaced persons, and caring for our relationship with God through our care for our earth (God’s primary revelation), caring for God’s creatures, building blue bird houses. These events have been meaningful and moving for all involved and are an important part of the faith formation of our young people. Please see our calendar on this website for events planned throughout this year and our photo galleries for images from our recent events! They’ll touch your hearts with joy that our young people are making a difference in our community.

Our planned Family Pilgrimages with Mission in Mind (aka Youth Mini-Mission Events) for the remainder of 2019 are:

9/28 – How2eucharist Worship — Come as a family and in a very active and engaged way, participate in our sacrament of Eucharist.

10/26 – Holy Hike with “Cookie Church” — a children and youth led Eucharist out in the woods.

11/23 – Blessing other families for Thanksgiving. Preparing for food distribution for Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

12/21 – Caroling at the Episcopal Home as part of our family Christmas event.

We hope you will plan to join us for these fun but important ways our young people will engage in the world as Christ’s hands and feet.
