Preparing to Become the Beloved Community
We are engaging with the Episcopal Church curriculum of “Preparing to Become the Beloved Community” this season of Advent. The study is focused on the scripture for these 4 weeks of Advent and Christmas Day. Our time together will include scripture study, prayer, small group discussion, and time for reflection. All of you are invited to participate as we deepen our understanding of God’s dream for humanity and how we can work with the Holy Spirit in making this happen.…
Book Study: The Universal Christ
Join us as we continue to explore the depths of Richard Rohr’s newest book as he presents new, thoughtful, and insightful ways to imagine ourselves as part of the movement of God within this world, always bringing us closer to an inclusive community, where we see and create connections, not divisions. This book group will be held by Zoom. Please click here for the link.
Early Church Writings
We will gather electronically to delve into the early church writings, or the Epistles, which are the oldest books in our New Testament. We will prepare by reading the text (each Epistle), learn about its context, history, key words, important theological concepts and significance in our current thinking, and then explore how it may have shaped our worship practices or how it fits into our life today. Our sessions will last one hour, with about 30 minutes of that in…
The Universal Christ Book Group
We gather every other week to discuss the book, The Universal Christ, which is written by Richard Rohr, a Franciscan monk and a Roman Catholic priest. His writing offers an expansive way to view the difference between Jesus (the person who embodied humanity and divinity) and Christ, which is the presence of the Risen Christ, made possible through the resurrected Jesus, yet also was in the beginning with the presence of God the Creator. It’s a fascinating book which leads…
Prayer Shawl Ministry Group Gathering
If you knit or crochet, we invite you to join our Prayer Shawl Ministry. We meet the first Sunday of every month in the Parish Library, where we will pray, knit, and support each other as we create prayer shawls which will be blessed by the congregation and offered to someone in need. If you want to learn how to knit or crochet, show up and we’ll teach you.
