Sermons by The Rev. Betsy Ivey
We can stare at the empty tomb in disbelief as long as we want. Jesus is not there. Jesus did not die for what we want to believe in, but for the love God has been trying to give us from ‘the foundations of the world’.
After his baptism, Jesus emerged from the water, and followed the Holy Spirit into the wilderness, a retreat of forty days, to grapple with how to make sense of being anointed by God, and live into anointing in a world that worshiped someone other than God. During Lent, we try to grapple with how we live into our baptism, too.
We know that the Way made across the threshold is better than standing there in fear and bewilderment.
Coffee Hour is no longer just a time for networking, but a time in the diaspora of our Church community where Church continues.
