We are hard-wired to be in relationship with God- that means we are called to open ourselves up to the presence of God and to find God in our everyday lives. Come and join our book group on Wednesday evenings as we explore this path together.
This is an opportunity to deepen your spirituality with others as we explore this book by Bruce Epperly. Each week we will focus on one or more mystics from a variety of spirituality traditions. This week we will explore Mechthild of Magdeburg, a mystic born to an upper middle-class German family and lived the years of 1208-1283. Mechtild experienced God as the passionate lover of our souls. For Mechtild, the spiritual journey involves the courtship between God and the soul. Mechtild believes, when we fall in love with God, when we yearn for God as the lover of our souls, we discover that God already loves us.
Our book group discussion will focus on what stood out for each one of us as well as an exploration of the ways to practice each form of mysticism as highlighted in the chapters to be discussed that evening.
