Advent is a time of preparation, anticipation, and expectation. It is that time of the church year when we know God is up to something and we eagerly look forward to what that may be, in our lives and in our world. Advent is more than a time to get the Christmas shopping and decorating done or a time to go to lots of parties. Advent is a time when we get ready for something that comes to us that adds meaning, purpose, and hopefulness into our lives — the arrival of Jesus.
At St. Andrew’s, we are “rebooting” Advent, which means we’re starting over, focusing on what’s really important, going back to basics — and we’re starting the season gathered together.
We invite you to come on December 2nd at 4 p.m. Bring a quart of your favorite vegetable soup to share or a loaf of delicious bread — and then we get busy. We make Advent Wreaths, hear a story about Advent, make gingerbread creches, help decorate a gingerbread St. Andrew’s, decorate the Parish Life Center, and listen to carols. It will be a wonderful way to usher in the season that ushers into love and life into our world.
