We extended the grace we received at the altar to our friends and neighbors as we shared an abundant feast for our Community Christmas Day Dinner. This was truly a blessed event, where the joy of Christmas was shared with so many. This year, this became an event that truly was put forth by the community for the community. We received donations of gifts-in-kind or monetary donations to offset the costs of producing the meal from many organizations or local businesses in Shippensburg, including: The Book Nook, the Lollipop Shop, Shippensburg University Students, Kathy’s Deli, Walmart, and Giant. It seems everyone is willing to offer their goods to something that makes such a difference to so many. We had about 70 community friends show up for dinner with about 30 volunteers from our parish and beyond. We were blessed that each family was able to take home a loaf of home-made bread (baked by our rector and vestry), a goodie bag of candies, a present for each child, and a book or two for young and old alike. It was a joyous occasion and we thank everyone who contributed to this wonderful event, wherein we make the love of God real to so many.
